Poetry Night

Join local poets for an evening of live performances aligned with this year’s conference theme: From Divine Dissatisfaction to Joyful Liberation: How do We Co-create a Beloved Whatcom County? opening ceremony and keynote

Emcee Dr. Sislena Ledbetter hosts an inspiring evening that starts with an opening ceremony led by Rev. Dr. Kelle Brown, tri-chair and theomusicologist for the Washington Poor People’s Campaign. For the keynote, join intersectional environmentalist thought leader Emily Pinckney for a conversation on environmental justice, intersectionality, and community centered co-creation facilitated by local environmental advocate Destiny Dunbar. This event will be be hosted on Zoom and live-streamed. Registration required for Zoom. ASL interpreting will be provided.

Saturday, January 14th, 9am – 4pm

A full day of workshops and community spaces hosted on Zoom.

open house (9:00 – 9:20)

Stop by the Zoom open house to start your day, connect, and get answers to any questions you may have. Registration is not required.

workshop sessions (9:30 – 2:20)

Take your pick of workshops offered in three sessions: 9:30 – 10:50, 11:00 – 12:20, and 1:00 – 2:20. For ASL services, please contact whatcomhrtf@gmail.com by January 6th. Registration is required for workshops.

closing (2:30 – 4:00)

To close the conference, we will come together on Zoom at 3:00 to reflect on the day. Registration is not required.
