Presented by Racial Justice Coalition Steering Committee members
In contemporary times, it is imperative to understand how white supremacy has evolved. We may see fewer white hoods and other traditional symbols of white supremacy and hate, but it has not lessened. In Washington State alone, hate crimes have increased approximately 70% in recent years. White supremacy has evolved, not disappeared or lessened.
We will have a frank, honest discussion about white supremacy and racism in contemporary times and even social justice spaces. A panel will speak on their experiences and provide opportunities for listeners to comment and ask questions. This workshop will emphasize more cultural than historical perspectives and facts.
Primary Audience: adults – general, educators, human rights or social justice professionals; youth – ages 7+
